A lot of people like to include poetry in their invitations and also in their vows. Some people also like to recite poems at the reception and this can add a really nice touch to the speeches.

You can grab some good ideas for wedding poetry from wedding cards and these might even help inspire you or your partner to create your own poems for the wedding.

One relatively simple way to help you write your own poetry for your wedding is to write down the all the words and comments that you would like to say in a series of sentences and then go to a site like www.rhymezone.com on the internet and find words that rhyme with the words at the end of each sentence.

By rearranging the sentences and making appropriate changes you can create your own poetry that will be unique to your wedding ceremony.

When you rearrange the words you you will probably need to add or remove phrases until your have a nice flowing poem. You will need to read it out loud as this is the best way to see whether the poem flows or whether or not you need to add or remove ‘filler’ words.

It can be fun writing your own wedding poetry however if you or your partner find it too difficult to get it sounding as you would like, then you might need to consider using some prewritten wedding poetry that you should be able to find with a search on the internet or as previously mentioned from wedding cards.

If you find that you are really having a hard time putting it all together a good resource that I discovered for this is www.lovelettersnow.com. They really make it easy. With the Love Letters Now collection, you’ll be able to edit their love letter templates to come up with the personal words and intimate thoughts that you might want to add to your vows, invitations or speeches.

You can use this poetry as a base for the foundation of your own poems where you just need to substitute specific words so the poem relates to you and your partner.

It’s also worthwhile asking friends or family if any of them are good at writing poems as they could help you out to get your own unique wedding poetry. You may be surprised by how many people you know who are good at writing poems.

What ever you do don’t give up. There is no time or place more deserving of a good poem than your big day. You’ll be amazed at how much more special it makes your wedding celebration when you include some great wedding poetry.

The Wedding Speech Hazard

As with all other aspects of your wedding, don’t be influenced by tradition when it comes to the wedding speech. Wedding speeches can be as formal or informal as you like and it’s your choice to decide whether you want to have long or short wedding speeches.

When it comes to the wedding speech it seems like almost everyone wants to get into the act, especially once the drinks start flowing. Not only could you get a little speech from the bride and groom but it is also very common for the best man, the father of the bride, the maid of honor and the mother of the bride to all have their say. That is a whole lot of people giving speeches and multiple chances for potential disaster if you’re not careful, so here is a little bit of advice:

Make sure that you know what people are going to say if they are going to give a speech as there is nothing more humiliating than to have someone reveal some embarrassing bit of information that you don’t want made public on your wedding day. Very often people don’t realize that they shouldn’t be mentioning particular events so it is always wise to discuss the contents of any speech before the event.

The people who are giving the speeches also need to understand that there might be people from various generations at the wedding and what might be acceptable for younger members at the reception might not go down as well with the older generation.

If you are preparing a speech for yourself then take a copy of it to the wedding so you don’t forget anything or forget to thank people for the work they have done or the support they have given you.

You should write your speech in such a manner as though you are talking to friends as it will be a lot more natural this way and you will be less likely to make mistakes or forget what it is that you are saying.

Read it aloud to your partner and see if there are any comments that may need to be added that might help you to improve it. It is only when you read it aloud that you will realize if it is a suitable speech or not as we often write in a different manner or voice than we speak.

Start preparing your speech early on in the planning as you will probably find that you will want to make changes along the way as you get closer to the wedding day.

Having a copy of the speech will also help reduce the chance of nervousness affecting the outcome because you can always refer to the notes and always talk (or read) slowly to give yourself time to breathe and it will also help people to hear what you are saying.

If you are having trouble writing your own wedding speech or if you’re just not a very good or creative writer at all, here is a good source for step-by-step guides that walk you through everything you need to know to create your own inspirational speech. The Wedding Vows

You should take your time when you decide on your wedding vows and try and personalize them to fit you and your partner. Don’t be overly influenced by what other people expect or want you to do.

The wedding vows are one of the most important parts of the wedding because it is after the recital of your vows that you will be officially married.

More and more people are becoming very creative with their wedding vows and this adds a personal touch that represents what you and your partner believe your marriage means to the both of you.

It is a chance for you to both express your true thoughts on why you are getting married and what it will mean for you in the future.

Here are the typical wedding vows…

“I [your name] take you [your partners name] for my lawful [wife/husband] to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part”

Many people use these traditional vows as the foundation that they will modify to suit their needs by adding personalized touches where they like.

Some people find the traditional vows a bit too formal and the wording no longer appropriate to get the true meaning of their feelings for one another across. If that’s the way you feel then changing them is probably the right solution for you.

These words are more important than all the wedding speeches combined so it is well worth spending as much time as necessary to come up with something that is really special for the two of you.

Get some ideas from books, poetry and songs. Bounce some ideas off each other and you will soon know when you have hit that perfect combination that will lead you into your married life.

If you really get stuck for ideas for your wedding vows here is a pretty neat resource I came across called the wedding vow tool kit that claims to have helped many people come up with ways to write some pretty amazing wedding vows. You can check them out here at this link  if you’re interested. www.weddingvowtoolkit.com

What ever you do just remember, don’t ever stop having fun because that’s what it’s all about – getting the most happiness out of life by sharing it with the one you love.

15 Ways To Lose Weight Fast Before The Wedding

Want to lose weight fast before the wedding? It’s easy to say goodbye to 10 pounds of unwanted fat with these easy diet tips. Just pay attention to what you eat and be sure to have good tasting, fresh and healthy food including snacks, fill up on vegetables and keep your taste buds happy with fruit.

No need to make sacrifices! Just follow these simple guidelines to lose your first 10 pounds, last 10 pounds or give your weight loss program a boost when it seems to have stuttered to a halt. This is a balanced and flexible plan that you can use for as long as you want.

1. Keep a note of everything that you eat and drink. You do not need to estimate calories. Just write down what it was that you had and the approximate quantity. You will find that being more aware of what you are eating helps you to plan healthy meals and snacks.

2. Halve your intake of all pure or added fats. This means using half as much butter or spread on your bread, toast, muffins and potatoes; half the usual amount of mayonnaise or sauce on your salad; and half the oil in the frying pan every time.

3. Limit treats containing sugar to three times per week. This includes chocolate, ice cream, desserts, cake, pastries, cookies, etc.

4. Include a lower fat source of protein at most meals: chicken, fish, beans, cottage cheese, or low fat yogurt. Have eggs, nuts and red meat occasionally but not every day.

5. Plan at least one lunch and dinner every week without meat or cheese. Build those meals around whole grains, vegetables and beans to increase fiber and reduce fat.

6. Reduce the fat content in your milk products. If you are currently drinking whole milk, reduce to 2% fat. From 2% reduce to 1%. Choose lower fat cheese and yogurt. When you buy yogurt, also check that it does not contain sugar.

7. Have at least two servings of fruit every day. This can be for dessert or snacks. Choose fruit that is in season.

8. Drink water instead of sodas, juices, milky drinks or alcohol. Avoid diet soda – the sweet taste only encourages you to crave sugar. Hot water with a slice of lemon can be very refreshing in the morning.

9. Include at least two servings of vegetables at lunch and dinner. If you are getting hungry, have more.

10. Eat slowly. The body is slow to register when you are full and it is easy to eat too much if you are racing through your meals.

11. Grated carrot makes a great snack. You will find that a grated carrot is much more filling than a whole carrot. Strange but true.

12. Use whole grains wherever possible. The fiber will give you a fuller feeling and also help your digestion.

13. Choose food that you can chew. Again this will increase your fiber intake, and the act of chewing will make you feel more satisfied too. This means eating fruit instead of drinking juice. If you have soup, make sure it is chunky.

14. Plan your meals and snacks ahead of time. Plan your shopping too – make a list of what you need and stick to it. If you just grab something when you are feeling hungry, you will probably choose high calorie food.

15. Always switch off the TV when you eat. That includes snacks as well as meals. Studies have proved that we eat larger portions in front of the TV, probably because we are much less aware of what we are eating. When you eat, only eat if you want to lose weight fast.

Save Money On Your Wedding Cake – Part Two

Saving money on your wedding cake to help make your wedding inexpensive is something that any bride or groom can easily do, that is if you know how. With the following tips that are very easy to implement you will be well on your way to keeping a lid on your wedding expenses.

You can easily save money on your wedding cake by choosing lower cost ingredients for the cake. For example one way a couple might save on their wedding cake is to choose a cake with butter cream icing rather than fondant icing. The fondant requires a lot more labor and thus is a whole lot more expensive. The butter cream will end up looking just as nice and in my opinion will taste even better. Don’t forget that white or ivory colored frosting is cheaper as it will not have to be tinted by hand which is more labor thus more expensive.

Limiting the number of flavors in your cake will save you money too. Just think about it for a minute. How many flavors do you really need to have and still have your cake taste great? Stick with the simple flavors but don’t forget to make that top tier your favorite flavor so you can enjoy it on your first anniversary next year.

All of those little edible gum paste flowers and other beautiful decorations that are hand made on the cake can really rack up the cost as well. Try using some fresh flowers or even some artificial ones along with colorful personalized ribbon that has the bride and grooms names and wedding date embossed on it to decorate your cake once it’s on site; these can make it look just as beautiful as the more expensive alternative.

You can save money on your wedding cake by using a few tricks in the construction of your cake. My favorite cakes to look at are those beautiful, large, towering wedding cakes. Well if that’s a favorite of yours too then you can have the same look, without the cost by having some of those layers be false layers. The way it works is that you have to make sure you have enough cake for your wedding party, but to build that beautiful tower you will incorporate some layers made from Styrofoam, cut and shaped to look like a layer of cake. The Styrofoam layers are then frosted and decorated like the rest of the cake and presto, you have instant tower! The real beauty of this is that you get to have an elegant wedding cake in your wedding pictures without having to worry about completely ruining your wedding budget.

Another variation of the above idea is to have a smaller cake, done mostly with Styrofoam which will be used in your reception and pictures but when it comes time to serve the cake, a sheet cake in the back room or kitchen is the one that is actually served to the guests. If you should use either of these two methods, just make sure that you know which layer to cut from during your cake-cutting ceremony or you may find yourself a wee bit embarrassed.

You can make your wedding inexpensive and save even more money by having non traditional cakes. Some couples who marry today are doing something very different on their wedding day, like serving beautifully decorated baked cupcakes built up into a tower.  Check out the photo at the top of this post to see a good example. What they do is build the cupcake tower as a wedding cake and then top their cupcake tower with a cake tier for the bride and groom. For cost savings you can order your cupcakes or single layer cakes in a supermarket bakery, or a shopping club like Costco or Sam’s Club where they are very reasonably priced.

As you can see there are a variety of different ways that you can save money on your wedding cake and make your wedding inexpensive.  Even if you are on the strictest of budgets your inexpensive wedding cake should taste just as good as the more expensive ones. It is not the taste of the cake that adds to the expense, it is the size and the elaborate decorations that make them so expensive.

Unless you have a bunch of true cake lovers like me at your wedding, chances are that not many people are going to remember the cake anyhow. Save money on the cake, keep your wedding inexpensive and no one will ever notice the difference.
