For modern weddings there are no stern rules as to who should talk at the reception.  The following people may talk at a marriage: Father or Mother of the bride, the best man, the maid of honor, a groom, the bride, parents-in-law, and bridesmaids.  It is not odd for a couple of the groomsmen or two of the bridesmaids to talk at the same marriage.

Most people are intimidated at the thought of public talking.  Similarly, the majority are unsure of the correct marriage speech etiquette which compounds public talking anxiety.

This article is going to highlight some handy pointers to prepare and deliver a fabulous speech.

The formal order of the speeches is:

1.  Dad of the bride

2.  The groom

3.  The best man

In modern times, it’s not uncommon for the bride, bridesmaid-in-chief or even some guests to assert one or two words.

The speech segment of the reception is mostly held after the meals but there’s no reason why the speeches cannot be before the meal.

For marriage speech etiquette follow these top 10 tips:

1.  If you’re the one being toasted never raise your glass or drink from your glass till the toast is finished and other guests have sipped their drink.

2.  No jokes that have ethnic or racial connotations.

3.  Avoid any profane language.

4.  Don’t make any reference to any past / future lovemaking between the couple – for instance – the honeymoon.

5.  Don’t mention prior weddings.

6.  Don’t chew gum; put your hands in your pocket or shuffle from side to side as you deliver the speech.

7.  Don’t drink more than a glass or two of alcohol before the speech.

8.  Avoid any “sore” subjects such as a death in the family.

9.  Always stand when delivering the toast.

10.  Don’t hit a glass with a spoon to gain attention.  It is more polite to stand and hold your glass and wait for silence.

If you follow the 10 tips above you’ll have no reason to be anxious about following the right wedding speech etiquette.

Good Bridal Shoes Alternatives-Bridal Flip Flops?

Posted by Charles on 25 February 2011
Choices

There are some pretty cool shoes in the market for you to get to wear on your special day but unfortunately not all of them are a good option, and a few of them are not very practical. You have to have bridal shoes that match your wedding dress and your overall look, and perhaps a pair of bridal sandals that you think look wonderful on your foot. While browsing online, you may have to pass up a few pairs that you think you love, but will end up murdering your arches all day.

Most wedding shoes are white or ivory, although Silver shoes are becoming more popular as well as blue wedding shoes. Of course you should get what you consider would go perfectly with your wedding gown. Bridal shoes come as flats, small heels, bridal flip flops as well as stiletto heels. Basically, the most important guideline in getting the right wedding shoe is remembering that you’re likely to be on your feet a good deal that day, and perhaps a high heel is not a good choice. Actually, those who buy these would be wise to get a 2nd, more comfy pair for them to change into when their feet start to ache.

If you want to avoid the “Bridal Shoes Blues” a medium-high heel is a nice choice for most bridal shoes. If you’ve never worn heels, it’s not always smart to. Instead, opt for some terrific looking bridal shoes that are flats or even bridal flip flops. It will take some practice to walk in heels without wobbling  around and falling in the event you’re jittery, and you won’t get great at it in time for your wedding ceremony. If you have seldom worn heels, there’s usually a good reason for that. Now isn’t the moment to start. Instead, acquiring bridal shoes that you know can be ones own personal style and that are going to be more comfortable on your feet are your best bet.

After you have chosen your wedding shoes, look into finding a second pair that are all about comfort. You can even find some fantastic slippers for you to slip on when your feet start to hurt, which is going to happen. I have found small, satin slippers made only for brides-to-be online, and they’re well worth the cost. You could also buy a dressy pair of wedding flats if you are wearing high heels, or designer label bridal flip flops.

It is a great idea to buy your bridal shoes as soon as possible so you’re able to stroll around the house in them to break them in. You won’t want to wear them for the first time on your special day. If you do that, you can expect to end up with blistered and perhaps even bleeding feet. Get them out, use them around the house, and get them broken in a little. This can also allow you to determine if they are in truth comfy enough for your big day or if you might like to go out and acquire alternative bridal shoes. It makes no sense to have your shoes ruin your big day so be sure and take the time to select the proper shoe for the occasion.

Budgeting Your Wedding Flowers

Posted by Charles on 24 February 2011
Wedding Flowers

When planning a wedding, you can expect to spend about 10% of your budget on flowers alone. With that in mind, you need to ask yourself whether all that money that goes on flowers that nobody will actually care about, couldn’t be put to better use, like a honeymoon in an exotic place, perhaps? Most brides would go for the latter but this doesn’t mean that you need to forget about the flowers. There are several ways to shop for wedding flowers on a budget; you will just need to be a little creative and flexible.

If you choose the right venue you may not have to spend at all on wedding flowers. If you are having a spring wedding, for example, the place to fit this purpose would be the local rose garden or arboretum, and you would just have to pay for the wedding flowers that form your bouquet and the bridesmaids’. And a local florist will be more than happy to help you with the flowers for the bouquets.

Whenever you shop for wedding flowers or anything else related to your big day try not to mention the word wedding because retailers know that brides are willing to spend a bundle after the most trivial thing for their wedding so they won’t hesitate to overcharge you.

Red and white poinsettias are a great substitute for wedding flowers if your wedding is to be held in winter. And to give your wedding a more festive feeling you can use some pine cones or some ivy vines. For a more flamboyant effect, you can use larger pots wrapped in silver or golden foil and further decorate the setting with some wedding ribbons.

Of course, you can always plant your own flowers. Very few brides like a shotgun wedding, so if you are not one of them, then you probably have several months ahead of you to plant your flowers and grow them.

Though you can always replace fresh wedding flowers with artificial ones made of silk and paper that your local craft store can supply, and achieve the same stylish aspect. What matters in a ‘big day’ setting is the overall aspect, not minor details, so you can rest assured that artificial flowers will do no damage to it, in fact just the opposite. If you want your wedding to have an enchanting and dreamlike appearance, you should decorate the location with gold and silver colored pine cones, ivy vines, candles, silk roses and paper marguerites.

However, if you are dead set on having fresh flowers at your wedding, but still want to save money, try to keep away from the most exotic ones. Roses, tulips, sunflowers and carnations are common-use and always available, which makes them a cheap but beautiful choice. Don’t forget the power of the greens either. If you use greens like baby breath and ferns, you won’t have to spend so much on flowers and you will still have a great wedding decor. In any case, if you want a good bargain on your wedding flowers, your local wholesale florist is the place to get it.

But the cheapest solution yet is no wedding flowers at all; instead you can use candles that are quite inexpensive and successfully maintain that romantic atmosphere you want at your wedding.

You’ll love these unique pink computer speakers.
