Nothing might be farther from the truth. A checklist is among the most important aspects towards a well organized wedding and without one there is a chance that some important items may be missed.

Do I Have to Buy a Gift From the Bridal Registry For the Bridal Shower?

Everyone loves a good wedding and even more  everyone loves a great bridal shower. The Bride-to-Be gets showered with gifts of love for the new journey she has decided to take on and you get the chance to share that experience with her. A well run  Wedding Shower, will at least one month before the  wedding shower, have composed a Bridal Registry of the items she and her new partner to be need to help set them up for the future.

However, Bridal Registry’s have been known as a cause of concern for many people going to a bridal shower simply because many of the gifts requested are beyond the ability of the guests to buy. So the question now is, “Do I have to Buy a Gift From The Bridal Registry for the Bridal Shower?”

The correct protocol answer is “YES” and “NO”.

Unless you were invited to a Royal wedding there is no protocol that says you must only buy from the bridal registry however there are a few things to consider.

1. The Role of the Bridal Registry

The role of the  wedding registry is simply to tell you what the couple needs in moving forward with their lives together. This is a great insight as to their needs and in a way makes it easier for you to buy a gift that they will appreciate. From my wife’s bridal shower there were gifts that were really poorly chosen and for a couple it is then difficult to know what to do with those items. However, the down side is that often many items that brides-to-be put on their Bridal Registry are truly out of the range of the people coming.

2. Give What You Can Afford

The reality is that when you are invited to a wedding, the honor is as much for you as it is for the bride-to-be, so the correct protocol is that you provide a gift that is inline with what you can afford. For example it would be inappropriate for a person to give a five dollar gift when they earn one million dollars a year but at the same time, it would be inappropriate for someone to spend $1,000 for a gift when they only earn $500 a week. Gift giving must be in proportion to your own financial capacity. There is no point in you going in to debt for a gift, it just simply doesn’t make sense.

3. Give Something From The Heart

For many brides, the most precious gift is something treasured from you. For example the best gift from a mother might be Grandmas broach that she wore when she got married. Always give something that means something to you as much as it does to her. This is always the best gift and one that can be treasured for years to come. For many brides being able to pass something like this from generation to generation is just as special as that 50″ Plasma Television that will wear out in 12 months anyway.

Over the last ten years when the economy was booming, too many people have tried to out spend each other when it comes to giving gifts for Bridal Showers. The key to giving the right gift is to give something from the heart. If giving the bride-to-be a 55″ Plasma Television is something from the heart and is the right gift then do it, but if buying a $50 bracelet that she can wear on the wedding day is special to you then that is the right gift for her.

Diamond Color

Posted by Charles on 31 March 2011

One of the 4 major features which are taken into consideration when checking a diamond’s quality and value is diamond color. Completing the Four C’s are clarity, carat weight and cut. When you understand these four diamond attributes and how they interrelate, you could decide on the diamond that best fits your price range and tastes. For our in-depth guide on Diamond Ring Shapes check out our website where you can also find out much more about Diamond Ring Colors.

Colorless diamonds are sometimes called “white”; although not all diamonds are really clear, it is the colorless which all other shades are evaluated against.

To score diamond color, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has made a set of guidelines. Graded diamonds’ color is compared to the color of control stones, which mean preselected gems of a specific color.

How to Grade Diamond Color

* Only loose stones may be graded; once a diamond is set into metal, its color will be impacted.

* When graded, the diamonds are seen with a 10x loupe, placed table-down and pavilion-up.

* To distinguish the quantity of color within each stone, a lettering system from D to Z is used, with D for the rare and completely colorless stones.

Diamond Color Grades

The groupings shown here are categorized from clear diamonds to diamonds that are yellow or yellowish brown. These grades are not relevant to fancy colored gemstones since they have their own color grading specifications.

D-E-F

Colorless

G-H-I-J

Almost without color

K-L-M

Slightly tinted, generally yellow-colored

N-O-P-Q-R

Delicately tinted, usually yellow. Hue could be seen with the naked eye.

S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z

Tinted, generally yellow-colored, and might develop to brownish. Tint is visible to the naked eye, even when attached.

Other Factors Affect Diamond Color

Luminescence

Diamond’s color transforms when it is exposed to ultraviolet radiation; if or not the diamond displays fluorescence is pointed out in the GIA diamond records as well as records from other labs. Ultraviolet radiation exists in fluorescent lit areas and is a component of daylight; hence, stones with this feature may appear to shift in color quite often.

* Usually, a stone that generates a blue reaction appears more colorless or whiter when exposed under ultraviolet light.

* When in some lighting conditions, the appearance of stones that fluoresce yellow appear even more yellow.

Diamond Color Enhancements

Through the use of HPHT (high pressure/high temperature) processing, the color of some diamonds can be considerably altered. Contrary to previous diamond treatments, modifications in diamond color by means of HPHT appear to be irreversible.

To temporarily enhance a diamond’s color, coatings are occasionally utilized.

Diamond Settings

When mounted in a white setting (platinum or white gold), a loose stone that seems lightly yellow to the naked eye usually seems more colorless. This same stone will enhance its yellowish tone when mounted in yellow-gold metal.

Summing Up Diamond Color

The diamond’s color has an influence in the gemstone’s cost; even so, when purchasing diamond jewelry, it isn’t the most important feature to think about. When your funds is not enough to purchase a D through F graded diamond, you can still own a lovely jewelry.

Other grades are completely suitable, even those from G through J. Get the help of an experienced jeweler to assess and select the ideal diamond for you. If your in the market to buy a diamond ring then check out our review of James Allen.com

Choosing A Wedding Date

Picking the date you want to get married on is the most important part of planning your wedding, without it you can’t do anything else. There are a number of contributing factors that need to be accounted for when setting the date of your wedding.

You Need Ample Time

Before you set a date for your wedding you will need to ask yourself several vital questions (you will need to be honest with yourself if you want to have the wedding of your dreams):I am I the most organized person I know? How much time do I need to plan my wedding? Am I going to plan my wedding or will I hire a wedding planner to do if for me? These are all import questions that need to be considered before setting a date. On average the time between becoming engaged and getting married is anywhere between a year and 18 months.

Competing Events

Make sure that the date you are going to pick for you wedding will not clash with any important dates for your friends and family. Consulting with the key members of your wedding party is a the best way to avoid scheduling conflicts.

Avoid Major Holidays

Avoiding wedding dates that are too close to the major holidays is a great idea. Although Valentine’s day is the exception to this rule. Although keeping to the holiday rule isn’t always necessary as Valentine’s day is great for weddings. With people going out of town for their vacations around the holidays you might be pushing you luck by asking them to abandon their travel plans in favor of you wedding.

Choosing The Day

You may have to fight to get the services and venue that you want if you want your wedding to be on a weekend because many other couples will have had the same idea. You will have to plan you wedding well in advance as most churches and reception venues are booked a year in advance for weekend weddings. Saturdays are the hardest day to plan for during the busiest wedding months as there are many brides aiming for the same ceremony and reception sites at the same time.

Wedding Costs

As well as being hard to book some dates, holidays especially, will cost you more to book for your wedding. As summer approaches you may start to notice that some vendors may increase their prices as the weekends become more competitive for hopeful couples. On the other hand, if you plan on getting married in the fall or winter you may be in line for much better deals for your venues and services.
